Read This When You’re Feeling Lonely

By

So you’re lonely—arguably one of the worst possible feelings in the entire universe. You’re probably sitting alone, in the dark, wishing you were in someone’s company. But instead, you’re reading this, all by your lonesome. I know how you feel. Maybe your boyfriend decided he needed a break after all of the months you guys have spent together, or maybe the guy you liked called it quits because he needed time to figure himself out. Darling, I know exactly what you’re feeling.

You feel as though you’re going to be alone forever. You don’t feel good enough. You scroll through your Facebook feed and yet another couple you know is engaged. You open up Instagram to see hundreds of cute couples watching the fireworks together. But you sit alone in your room, listening to the fireworks outside your window, and you just feel so lonely.

It hurts so badly to be alone like this, and all you want to do is lie in your bed and feel sorry for yourself. And that’s okay, love, we’ve all been there. We’ve all cried ourselves to sleep, as least once, because we feel like no one cares why we’re crying.

I’m going to let you in on a secret though: you’re never truly alone. I know how cliché this sounds, but it is the absolute truth. Whether you believe it or not, people care about you. You are an irreplaceable, beautiful soul, and people love you. It may be hard to believe it, but it is true.

Now you’re probably thinking that I’m lying because the boy who kissed you under the stars changed his mind, or your boyfriend continues to pick fights with you. I’ve been in your shoes before, and someone better always comes around. These boys are blind for not seeing your beauty. They do not deserve someone as amazing as you in their lives anyways. Don’t fret, beautiful. You aren’t losing out on much. You lost someone who didn’t care about you, but they, on the other hand, lost someone who loved them so much. And they did not deserve an ounce of your love.

When you’re feeling like the whole world is against you and you’re on your own, please try to remember that people around you care. Reach out to your best friend, reach out to your mom, reach out to the girl you have class with, but don’t know so well.

There are so many things in life for you to be happy about, I promise. You are perfect in your own way, and someday you will find the person who sees every inch of you and your soul, and will fall hopelessly in love with you. But until that person arrives, yes, you may be lonely for a little while, but it will all be worth it in the end because once you meet him, you’ll never feel lonely again.

So dry your eyes, dear, wipe that mascara off your face. There’s no need to cry. Pick your head up and smile. Everything will be okay.
