I Wear A Lot Of Make-up. Who The Hell Cares?

By

I’m straight-up sick of other women calling out women because they wear make-up.

On social media, girls I know constantly take photos talking about how they are proud to be “all natural” never wearing any make-up because they don’t need it to validate their beauty. Yet, they change the color of their hair, tan, have tattoos, piercings, use body lotion, etc. Newsflash: All of that is altering your appearance just like make-up does. Not wearing make-up does not make you godly and absolutely perfect because you are so proud of your appearance. I’m sure you pluck your eyebrows to change your appearance and brush your teeth to keep them looking fresh. Any application of products like these is cosmetic.

Then, these women will act like I am inferior to them because I wear a lot of make-up.

I like to wear red lipstick, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, mascara, etc. and color my hair. I’m not wearing it to make myself look beautiful because I have low self-esteem like you claim I do. I don’t need you to tell me that I look better “all-natural”. I know that I look damn fine without make-up already.

Sometimes I question that women like you have low self-esteem and have to somehow prove you are confident in yourself by not using a beauty product. Then, you bash other women that wear make-up because they like make-up to feel better about yourselves because you claim you don’t need to hide behind a mask. I am not hiding behind a mask wearing make-up. I don’t wear it to hide my flaws like you claim I do. In fact, it enhances what I like about me the best. I don’t wear make-up to validate myself, hide my flaws, make myself look better to men, etc. It doesn’t take me hours to get ready in the morning. (In fact, it takes me ten minutes to apply my make-up).

What make-up is to me is a form of art. My face is the canvas and I can do whatever I want with it to make it look cool. It is fun to play with and try out new looks. I can make my lips any color I want and that’s cool. I can experiment with different colors of eyeshadow and eyeliner to see what color my eye changes too and that’s cool too.

Don’t make me feel bad about wearing make-up because of your self-esteem regarding yourself.

Don’t tell me that girls wearing lots of make-up kills young girls self-esteem or self-confidence or whatever. If they are dumb enough to think people really look like that, they need to go outside and learn.
