Finding The Right Partner Makes Your Life Take Off, Not Settle Down

Finding the love of your life is not the end goal. The right partner isn’t an award that you get for being “complete” enough. The person you are best suited for is not someone who brings your life to a halt and forces you to lay roots.

The right partner makes your life take off, not settle down. It is the best life hack that nobody told you about

The right partner accelerates your ambitions. They hold you accountable. They force you to reconcile what you can and cannot control; what matters and what doesn’t. The wrong partner makes you less of yourself – they make you feel malleable.

This is what your partner is for. It is not a talisman of being preferred to someone else, it is not a tonic. It is not something that dissolves your real life problems, or distracts you from them well enough. The wrong partner just shows you the areas in which you’re incomplete, the right partner inspires you to complete them.

There’s a weird BS idea that your life partner is something you should put off because it ties you down… but the only people who think that are the ones who don’t know what it’s like to actually be with someone they’re right for. Anybody who is with the person they need to be with will tell you that the relationship transformed their lives in ways that were previously unimaginable. It didn’t stunt their ability to grow and travel and have fun and explore and change and become – it fueled those desires. It made their dreams more feasible.

The right partner doesn’t change you – you change yourself when you feel free enough to be loved for who you really are.

The person you’re going to be with will not always make you feel comfortable. It will not always be easy. And the biggest shift that has to happen is the idea that finding them is a reward of sorts. It isn’t. It’s just a hand to hold on the path – where you walk on it is still all on you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
