Read This If You’ve Reached Your Breaking Point

It’s only May and 2020 has already been an unprecedented year for every person on this planet. As if the everyday stresses of life weren’t enough, now many of us are losing loved ones, isolating ourselves from our families and friends, working from home if we’re lucky, or looking for work if we aren’t so lucky.

But Covid-19 aside, we all reach a point when it feels like everything is a bit much.

If you’re a student, that may look like an overwhelming exam schedule and feel like the light at the end of the tunnel keeps getting farther away. It may mean wondering if all the work, stress, and money are worth it.

For those working, it may look like horrible bosses, never-ending work hours, and maybe even the potential of losing a job.

For mothers, fathers, and caretakers, it may be the mountains of laundry that never go away and the perpetually empty fridge even while spending hundreds a month on groceries.

For the recently single, it may look like scrolling through happy couples’ pages on Instagram and trying to ignore the pangs of loneliness that radiate from the chest.

No matter how you got there, everyone feels like they’ve reached their breaking point. It’s okay, it’s normal, and hey, it happens.

But when you do get there, don’t panic. Take a deep breath, and another one, and one more.

Just breathe. If you need to cry, cry until you don’t feel like you need to anymore. Sometimes feeling better starts with being at your lowest point.

Just breathe. Take a walk outside and feel the fresh air on your face. Sit in your yard, on your porch, or just near an open window.

Just breathe. Call your best friend. Call your mom. Call your granddad. Let someone you love know how much they mean to you.

Just breathe. Try and smile. Or don’t. Remember how far you’ve come and how much you’ve accomplished.
