Verizon To Roll Out 5G In 2017, Which Is Supposedly Faster Than Google Fiber

By

We’ve all been wondering when the next-gen of wireless technology was going to arrive in our hands. And it looks like Verizon will be the first to deliver. The nation’s largest carrier network is slated to deploy the super-fast technology by 2017, beating the industry’s initial timeframe by three years.

How fast is 5G?

Glad you asked. Verizon has shown that 5G can be 30 to 50 times faster than 4G. In other words, you can download a movie in less than 30 seconds. Imagine lossless streams. That’s how fast we’re talking.

What can it be used for?

The technology is supposedly so fast, you can stream real-time with no lag, which can mean a doctor can virtually perform surgeries from halfway around the world.

But this means the carrier will have to restructure its plans. Your 5GB data plan will be used up the first eight minutes, don’t you think?
