Please Hold On To The Possibility That Your Pain Has A Purpose

“There are no mistakes. We have a supreme destiny. There is a supreme moment of destiny, of calling on your life. There are no wrong paths. There is no such thing as failure. You get as much as your losses as you do as your victories. So when you understand that, you don’t allow yourself to be thrown by a circumstance, because your life is bigger than one experience.” Oprah Winfrey

I think a lot of us live our lives believing that we are here by either luck, chance, or the mere reason that our parents had us and now we are bound to simply trudge on through life with an excess amount of problems that weigh us down day by day.

For the most part, a lot of us are just not happy and we are constantly unsatisfied.

We feel heavy day in and day out because life just seems to constantly knock us down.

Because as it seems, even though we try our hardest to achieve the picture we have painted for our lives, we constantly fall down and struggle to even find the courage, find the breath in our body, to lift ourselves back up and try again.

When we look at other people around us, however, they seem to be soaring in their lives and doing extraordinary things and we then wonder what about us? And why we have hurt so much in the first place.

Maybe we compare ourselves to that friend who has graduated from school and is now killing it on YouTube right now as an entrepreneur, motivating people with her videos.

Or that family member we know who wrote a book. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be people we know, it can even be the simple onlooking of people we see on TV who seem to be doing something with their lives that seem bigger than themselves.

When we look at ourselves, however, we feel ashamed, saddened and disappointed because it seems as if we are bound to live a life that will go nowhere, no matter how hard we try.

We then declare then, that the meaning of living is perhaps to struggle, to suffer, and to do what we have been taught to do all our lives; survive.

But would if we constantly held on to the possibility that we are actually here for something bigger than ourselves? And that all our trials and suffering, could be leading up to what we have been waiting for?

How much more exciting and meaningful would life then be, if we knew that the life we are living, right now, at this very moment, is for a purpose beyond what we could have even imagined for ourselves?

But for most of us, this isn’t that easy and we usually settle for falling into a trap of self-pity over our lives.

I know this because I have done this repeatedly in my life.

I know I can write and I know I have talents beyond what my trials and pains have been, but depression and everything I have gone through seemed to overshadow that and I concluded that I must not have a purpose after all.

That my life is meaningless.

I know I am not the only one who has just wanted to give up on life. I can’t be. Every 40 seconds someone takes their own life somewhere in this world and I know for many of them, even though there are many reasons behind suicide, a lot of them probably thought their life had no purpose, no end to what has been hurting them.

We may not have known them, but we all know someone, it could even be us, who have just wanted to give up on life, myself included because things got too tough.

But through living beyond the pain I have found that writing is one of my purposes. And though I struggle, though I lament and I have seen darkness with no flicker of light, I have found purpose through my pain, a talent that I can use to teach others about depression and share my thoughts on life and inspire others with my experiences.

To you reading this right now, I don’t know your struggle or your story, but your life has worth beyond your struggle, but you just haven’t tapped into it yet. It has always been there and you probably even know it as well but have given up in a sense because pain came uninvited in your life and took over.

But there is hope beyond it and there is a unique calling on your life.

Yes, we see everyone on social media galavanting and living lives that we sometimes envy, but do they have your story? Can they do with their lives what you can do, what you can teach someone about when it comes to your struggles and triumph over your pain?

You’ve tried it all. You’ve had pity parties and have drowned in your sorrow. You have given up because you feel like you are a failure in life and have seen the results of it as well.

But I’ll tell you what you have yet to do.

You haven’t given your pain, the possibility of a purpose.
