The 6 Lies You Tell Yourself After A Break-Up

By

1. “He will want me back in a few months”

The moon is more likely to fall from the sky than he is coming back to you. The longer you live in this fantasy, the longer it will take you to heal and feel normal again.

2. “He will come back to me”

Maybe he will. But why waste your time waiting for that. Move on, he is. It’s time to put yourself first.

3. “He is doing this because he is not ready for a committed relationship”

Honey, if he was with you for a year or longer, he was ready. Don’t kid yourself on this. Something else just wasn’t working. If your relationship was less than a year, this might be the case.

4. “He’s doing this because he doesn’t want to address a real problem”

Unfortunately, men can be cowards; they don’t like to talk about their feelings much, a cop out is much easier. This doesn’t mean you should try and fix things. He made the decision to give up on you and you don’t deserve this. Let go.

5. “He wasn’t dating her while we were still together”

If your ex has a new girlfriend within the week of your break-up, they were dating while you were together. I know this hurts, but the sooner you realize this, the sooner you can see him for who he really is.

6. “He was an ass the entire time we were together”

It’s easier to blame him than you.  Also, why remember the good stuff? That’ll just hurt worse.

No matter what lies you tell yourself after a break-up, know that facing the truth has to come at some point. The lies are an easy way to deal with the immediate pain of a break-up, but the truth will teach you what you need/want in your next relationship.
