North Carolina State University graduate student Joshua Katz recently created a series of 22 U.S. dialect maps that illustrate the differences between regional US dialects. What started as a random bit of fun for Katz soon turned out to be a viral sensation on the internet — Business Insider, one of the first to pick the series up, received over 22 million pageviews in 48 hours.
