Honestly, The Reason Your Life Sucks So Much Is Because Of You

Stocksnap / Andrew Loke

The vast majority of people HATE taking responsibility for their actions because it’s so much easier to blame someone else for their problems than to realize – and accept – that they are their own problem.

Blaming is easy, it’s the easiest way to get out of things. “Oh, life dealt me a bad hand, better just lie down and let life continue to kick the shit out of me.” It’s like saying “I’m already fat, why not just order another large big mac meal, what’s one more going to hurt?”

Well, you’re going to keep being fat unless you change the way you eat, just like your life is going to keep sucking unless you change the way you live.

In order to change your life, you have to change your mindset. You have to accept that you will experience failure and disappointment. You have to understand that things won’t always work out in your favor and that life owes you nothing. Then you have to control how you react to all those situations and experiences. You can throw your hands up and let life keep sucking or you can decide to take control; after all, no one said life was going to be easy.

You can create a whole list of people to blame for why your life is so shitty; you can blame your parents, your teachers, your friends, but at the end of the day it all comes down to you. It comes down to what kind of person you want to be and what you’re willing to sacrifice to get there.

If you want to stop living a sucky life then make the necessary changes.

If you are truly committed to changing your life for the better, you will find a way. If not, you’ll blame someone else and find an excuse to make yourself feel better about your miserable life.

Every single person has a choice in this world as to how they’re going to live. You can say you want to change your life but until you change your mentality to make the commitment to a better life, you will fail.

Life is tough, that’s no secret. But the question is, what are you going to do about it?

Are you going to sit back and continue to let life shit on you or are you going to get up and take what you want? Moaning and groaning will get you nowhere. Shitty things happen to all of us but complaining about it will get you nowhere because at the end of the day no one really cares about your life and your problems because they’re focused on their own.

You can complain that you didn’t get the promotion and talk about how much you deserved it until you’re blue in the face, but the truth is no one else really gives a shit. People can tell you how sorry they are, how it’s not fair, how you deserved it, but at the end of the day, they aren’t going to lose sleep over it.

Blaming others won’t get you anywhere, instead, it might be time to take responsibility for your own actions. If you want a good life – a life that sucks less – you have to create it.

It’s time to stop blaming the world for your problems and take control of your life, but the thing is most people won’t because most people don’t want to take responsibility for their actions.

It’s truly amazing how many people take offense to you telling them to take responsibility for their life. Your choices and your actions have led you where you are today. You can choose to be a victim or you can choose to be positive, no matter what your circumstances are. Your happiness is a choice.

You are the only person holding yourself back from greatness. You are the reason you’re unhappy, you are the reason your relationships suck, you are the reason you’ll never do better than what you’re doing right now.

You are the reason your life sucks so much.

It all comes down to you. It comes down to your mentality, your outlook on life, your ability to take responsibility for your actions and your willingness to make sacrifices and changes where needed.

Stop blaming other people and things for your problems. If you want your life to stop sucking start living like it, or keep making excuses for why you can’t make the changes and stay miserable. Your choice. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
