11 Things You’re Doing To Make Your Life Harder Than It Has To Be

By

1. Looking for things to get upset over.

Burning the toast isn’t really that big of a deal because you’ll probably just throw it out and chuck a couple new pieces in and start over. Getting cut off in traffic sucks, but you’re telling me you’ve never once cut someone off? It happens. And who cares if your friend ditched you to go do something more fun, you can seriously tell me you’ve never weighed your pros and cons and gone with the better option? Give it a rest, stop looking for things to complain and be upset about. Will it matter next week? No? Then stop worrying about it.

2. Having unrealistic expectations.

Things in life aren’t always going to work out, there’s just no way to think that’s reasonable. Things happen, plans change and so do circumstances. It’s part of life. But if you’re constantly holding really high expectations you’ll constantly be disappointed. Stop expecting so much and just live in the moment.

3. Staying in positions that don’t make you happy.

You can leave – you know that, right? You don’t have to stay anywhere that makes you happy and you shouldn’t feel guilty if you’re simply doing what’s best for you.

4. Giving up on your dreams because you think it’s “too late.”

It’s never too late to start over and create a new dream, or even follow an old one. Don’t think it’s too late for you to go back to school or pick up a new hobby because it’s not. You can do anything you want as long as you believe in yourself and do it.

5. Settling.

You get in the way of your own life by settling. Don’t settle with jobs, or relationships, or love, or any other part of your life. Life is incredible and there are so many beautiful things to see and experience – don’t hold yourself back from those things because you’re settling. You can love your life, it’s absolutely possible and you absolutely should be in love with it.

6. Being egotistic.

The world doesn’t resolve around you – I’m sorry to break that to you. You’re not the only one going through a hard time and you’re not the only one who people are concerned with. People aren’t always concerned with your feelings because they are worried about their own. You are the center of your life, but sometimes you just need to step to the side and let others have their spotlight in your life.

7. Allowing negativity to breed more negativity.

You start focusing on the bad and that’s all you see. You put your blinders on and ignore the good that’s happening because you prefer to feel sorry for yourself. You allow the negativity to breed more negativity by assuming the worst from a couple bad things that have happened and you let it over take the happiness you had.

8. Not taking risks.

You don’t take risks because you prefer to live in comfort, which is fine, but you won’t experience the growth you need always living in your comfort zone. You need to push yourself out of your comfort zone and take some risks that scare you because once you experience that it will make you realize what you’re passionate about. Take risks because you never know what doors and opportunities it could open up.

9. Being all talk and little action.

You love to talk, but you rarely ever back your talk up with action. You have big dreams or thoughts in your head but you don’t actually use them because you fear commitment or failure. Go with your ideas, make your words meet you actions and run with it. You are capable of great things; all you need to do is try.

10. Constantly comparing yourself to others.

You allow yourself to get down because of what others are doing. Let me allow you to get in on a little secret, there are always people who will better than you, whether that be healthier, stronger, skinner, smarter, funnier, richer, whatever it may be and there will always be people who are less than you. It’s how life works. Don’t let others steal your thunder because you think you could be more or less of something. Stop living for anyone other than you because you’re doing just fine.

11. Never doing anything unless it benefits you.

You are greedy and it doesn’t look good on you. Stop being concerned about yourself and start thinking about others. Don’t constantly take without ever giving back. Volunteer your time, give up buying coffee out for a week and donate that money to a charity or spread the word about something important. It doesn’t have to be big, but do something. Generosity leads to more people willing to help you in times of need, also. Do you want to be remembered as a giver or a taker? You can pick based on your actions.
