Read This When Living Life According To A Timeline Makes You Feel Lost And Confused

I graduated college. And that’s probably my biggest achievement so far. I have no idea what to do next. I don’t know if I’m taking the right path, or if I’m going for a passion I still want after 30 years.

How much in my bank account should I have when I’m 23? Is it required to have my own car by 25? Am I supposed to be married by 27? Do I need to be a CEO when I’m 29?

We all ask these questions.

Sure, it’s great to be first. How amazing would it be to be the first millionaire in your high school batch, or the first to get to the opposite side of the world with your own hard-earned cash. But how bad is a second? Or a third? Or not at all? Who’s taking notes anyway?

It will feel like everything’s a waste of time. One moment I feel like pursuing a career in marketing, and the next thing I know, I want to teach kids the reality of life. Right now, as I write this, I am looking into taking my first MA degree.

Like I’m stuck and lost in life wanting a lot of things, but also waiting for someone to point me to the direction I need to go and the steps I need to take to get there, one by one.

Individually they all make sense, but looking at it from a wider perspective, nothing seems to be.

But it’s going to be okay. Maybe- just a what if- we’re meant to be tired at some point in life? Maybe – it’s okay to let go at the moment. Maybe- we’re meant to feel like giving up, feel like a failure, feel like we have no where to go.

But also, maybe – every confusion will happen all at once, before realizing we need and we can take a step back and it’s okay. Maybe we need to stop for a minute, or for as long as it takes us to get back on our feet. It’s okay to take a deep breath, it’s okay to take a rest.

We don’t have to rush everything now.

Sure, it’s great to accomplish things and see our efforts produce fruits for us to enjoy. But if you’re tired now, it’s okay to rest. If you’re tired now, it’s okay to sleep on it.

It’s not bad to take a pitstop with doing something ridiculous for a change. It’s okay to rest while everyone else is moving forward. It’s okay to unwind, move a little slower, enjoy life a little more.

And after you have relaxed, after you have realigned, after you have reassessed what you want and don’t want, it’s time to get back on your feet. It’ll feel better. Life set no timeline nor milestone that each of us need to achieve at a certain point. All we have to do is keep going at our own pace.
