Do Yourself A Favor And Unfriend People On Their Birthday

By

I have like three friends. You know who you are.

But, for some weird reason I have over 2,000 friends via Facebook. I’m not nearly outgoing or popular enough to know that many people, let alone be “friends” with them. I’m not sure when this got so out of hand, but now I find myself reading about strangers’ lives every time I open my page.

It’s quite annoying. No offense to these people, but I don’t know you. I don’t really care about what you’re doing today or eating for lunch. I care about what Jerrad is doing and eating for lunch, because he’s my friend. But, if I don’t know you, I’m just annoyed to be looking at your posts.

The way that I solve this problem is by “unfriending” people on their birthdays. I know that this sounds harsh, but I just don’t have the time or patience to sit down and go through every single person on my list and choose whether or not I know them enough to keep them as my Facebook friend.

Facebook does that really great, yet annoying, thing where it tells you the birthdays of the day. It’s awesome when I actually don’t know my friends’ birthdays because I’m terrible. Now I seem like the world’s best friend. It’s also really great at letting you know when it’s some stranger’s birthday that you happen to be “friends” with. This is when I remove them from my page.

It’s nothing against them, I’m sure they’re very kind. However, if I don’t know them, they probably don’t know me. So, I’m actually kind of doing them a favor too!

Deleting people you don’t know off of Facebook when it’s their birthday is super efficient. It allows you do lower the amount of strangers’ and unwanted friendships a little bit at a time. It takes less than two minutes, total.

So, if you find yourself in the same predicament, try it.

You’re welcome.
