You Don’t Have To Be In A Rush To Figure Everything Out In Your Life

By

We used to be the little kids who couldn’t care less about the world around us. We used to be these sprightly, energetic human beings who cared more about being happy by just doing the most trivial of things. It was relatively easy for us to picture our dreams and ambitions back then when we were just juvenile children living far away from the harsh reality of the world. Your teacher would ask you what you wanted to be when you grow up and in the back of your head, you already have an answer. How we wish it was just as easy today than it was before.

And now, here we are. We’ve all grown up and are faced with multiple decisions and responsibilities that will ultimately determine the course of our lives down the road. No more paper and pencil here. This is as real it gets, and even the most minuscule of errors can lead to life-altering results.

This is where everything starts to get confusing. As times change, people change. The things that surround you change. You start to change. The plans you’ve set out to do and achieve for yourself, they can possibly fall apart and crumble. The more you try and attempt to figure out why these things are happening, the more it likely appears to make no sense. The answers appear so elusive and everything just doesn’t quite fit the puzzle.

The thing is, the winds of change are imminent. You wake up one morning and the person who promised you the moon and the stars suddenly exit your life. The next thing you know, you’re fired from your job. All of these things can happen in just a snap of a finger and I can tell you, I know damn well how much it hurts losing the things that you treasure deeply within your heart.

But what I found the most beautiful and inspiring perhaps is that amidst all these uncertainties, there are new chances willing to be given, new risks willing to be taken, and new opportunities waiting to be seized. And while we are most definitely responsible for the outcome of our lives, it appears that the universe has a part to play in it as well.

Just think about it. The wind blows on a quiet afternoon, the winds start to ruffle, and all of a sudden your life is changed forever. It’s a terrifying idea, but beautiful at the same time because you never know what life will throw at you once you step out of that door. We have to take action. No, let me rephrase that. We NEED to take action in order to see change — the good kind of change that every single one of us desperately wants.

When things start to get confusing, I just want you to sit down for a moment, collect your thoughts, and take a deep breath. Don’t stress yourself out too much trying to “figure out” your life. Heck, we may never even figure it out after all in our lifetimes, and that’s completely okay. Why? ‘Cause life is school, and school is in session. As long as you’re breathing, making mistakes, and learning from your mistakes, it’s a constant cycle that we will go over and over and over again.

It’s important to have direction, to have dreams, and to have aspirations in our lives. It’s necessary to have that drive, that willpower, and that passion that keeps the fire alight and burning. It’s what motivates us to do more, to achieve more, and to strive to succeed. But always remember, when your plans start to fail, when your dreams begin to crash and burn, heck when all else fails, know that you’re not a failure. Pick yourself back up again and lift up the downtrodden along with you. Only then will you understand that in life, you can’t pull yourself up when there’s nothing to grab onto. You’ll never know when someone needs a helping hand, and for sure you’ll most definitely need it when things start to look bleak.

So forget about the expectations, the ideas and beliefs that you have to be accomplished at a certain point in your life. We might arrive late to the party, but at least we get to have fun before it’s all over. Heads-up and keep fighting.
