8 Ways To Transform Your Bad Day Instantly

By

1. Write Down 10 Things A Day That You Are Thankful For And Why

Do this exercise every single day whether it is in your journal, on a scrap piece of paper or in your phone. Always start off with “I am thankful for because…”. When you can visually see all the things you are thankful for in life, you will soon see that they outweigh all the things that you THINK are bringing you down.

2. Get In Your Car, Put The Windows Down And Your Favorite Song On

One of the greatest forms of therapy is driving. It doesn’t even matter if you have a destination or not. There is something so therapeutic about putting on a great song, feeling the breeze and letting go of all your troubles in that moment.

3. Use Only Positive Thoughts And Words

This is going to sound cliché, but it’s true. Your thoughts become your words and your words become your actions. Every single negative thought you have is going to affect you. Every single negative word that rolls off your tongue is going to affect you. It’s amazing how your day will change when you start using positivity in all aspects of your thoughts and feelings.

4. Indulge In Something Sweet

Pretend you don’t have a diet today or you aren’t so self-conscious about gaining weight. It’s perfectly ok to treat yourself sometimes! Stop and get an ice cream, get whipped cream on that drink and eat a chocolate bar. You deserve it!

5. Go Shopping

Go shopping. If you have to do it secretly and hide the bags later, still do it. You will suddenly feel a chemical release rush through your brain that brings you joy. Try on new looks for a pick me up or treat yourself to that one thing you’ve had your eye on for months but couldn’t muster up the impulse to purchase it.

6. Look Back On Old Photos

Sometimes it is nice to reminisce on old times and sometimes it is nice to laugh at yourself for wearing so much makeup, your hair like that and what the hell were you thinking when you decided to wear that outfit that day? Whether it be real photos (you know, the ones we used to print in 1-hour at the drugstore because we were so excited), old social media albums or scrolling through your phone. Do it. I promise they will make you smile.

7. Spend Time With An Animal

Cuddle your pet. And if you can’t cuddle your fish, snake or rat; hangout with them for a bit instead. There is nothing better than unconditional love. If you don’t have a pet at home, visit your local animal shelter or pet store and show one of the animals some love. You know what it’s like to feel like you’ve been cooped up in a cage all day at times, too. And look! Look at that face! If that doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what will.

8. Breathe

Tomorrow is a new day whether you’d like to believe it or not. And oh look, after that comes another new day. You will be just fine. Trust me.
