In Case You’re Wondering, Your Forever Person Will Look Like This

Twenty20 / @lillydyer96

Just so you know, love doesn’t entirely look like a rom-com film. Not all of us get to find the right person at the train station or at the bar or at a friend’s wedding. Sometimes we’ve already found them but time isn’t just on our sides. Sometimes we’ve lost them, but one day we’ll be surprised to see them come back at us.

Meeting your forever person won’t be a walk in the park, not as easy as you thought it’d be. Maybe because if it is, there’s a chance that you’ll only take it for granted. You’ll be quick to throw away the love that you have in front of you since you’ve never worked hard for it anyway. You’ll give up in a heartbeat when things get rough.

The world will not give your one true love in a grander way. There will be no rose parade before getting to see them. No surprise mob dance in a public space. No knocking on your door in the middle of the night to reveal themselves.

The story of how your forever person will appear in your life might be just simple. It could be waking up on a weekend morning and realizing that someone in your life now matters to you. It could be hearing one person in front of you speaks so intelligently and suddenly you can’t get your eyes off of them. You can’t turn down the electric feeling that they’re giving to you.

There are infinite ways in which your forever person could sweep into your life. And most of the time, it’s nothing special. But that’s fine. Because life isn’t a one big cheesy, romantic novel. Life has weird plot twists and long, boring chapters. You won’t get to have movie moments all the time.

In fact, the person that you’re going to be spending the rest of your life with won’t be the one you’ve imagined before. They won’t carry all the characteristics and physical attributes that you have in your checklists. They won’t live up to the hype. They won’t fulfill your fantasies.

Your forever person will be flawed and, at times, annoying. You will love them and be disappointed by them. They will bring you to good places and put you through hell. You will doubt them, be confused because of them. But they will grow on you. They will carve a permanent space in your heart.

Your forever person will be someone you can be comfortable with any time of the day. You will not be scared to open up to them. And even if they don’t say the right words when you need to hear them, you know that they will be beside you. That their presence will be enough to calm the storm inside of you.

The thing is, your life will not magically become a fairy tale just because you have found the right person. You will feel better, for sure, but you will still go through struggles and hardships and crappy times.

The only difference is that, when you have someone special, problems will become manageable. Because there’s a person around you who will make every day worth living.

Your forever person will be a mirror of you — a beautifully messed up human being. They will not be a lead character in the movie. They may not be able to save the world. Not the person who will become the face of revolution. Your forever person will simply help you be okay with everything in life. And if you think about it, that’s really just enough. TC mark

Seeds Planted In Concrete

This poetry collection by Bianca Sparacino is an assembly of words that celebrates the resilience of the human heart through stages of hurting, feeling, healing and loving.

“Be alone. Eat alone, take yourself on dates, sleep alone. In the midst of this you will learn about yourself. You will grow, you will figure out what inspires you, you will curate your own dreams, your own beliefs, your own stunning clarity, and when you do meet the person who makes your cells dance, you will be sure of it, because you are sure of yourself.”

★★★★★ “One of the best, if not the best, modern poetry collections you can read. Absolutely incredible. Her words are so wise, intricate and delicate that you feel them caressing your soul. I love this book, I love it so very much.” —Hayder

You look back and you just feel stupid.
You can’t forgive yourself for falling
or believing all the lies.
You reread every text.
You relive every memory.
And it all starts making sense —
he never wanted love.
He only wanted attention.
He only wanted validation.

“It’s just wondrous how every time I go through some emotional trauma, your posts are so relatable and it gives me so much hope. I love the writing and the photos. It’s all a pleasure to read. I can’t thank you enough for it, really.” — DM from @ThoughtCatalog Instagram follower
