The World Vs. Brett Kavanaugh and Donald Trump

Sad. Heartbroken. Frustrated. Numb. Confused. Afraid. Overwhelmed. Short of breath. Anxious. Hopeless. Hopeful.

These are just some of the powerful feelings rushing throughout my body, all trying to push themselves to the front, all at once.

I don’t write about politics. I don’t want to write about politics. But my sadness has pushed me to express the words that invade my mind in hopes of bringing the masses together.

No matter what your opinion is of Ford vs. Kavanaugh, can we all just agree that the President of the United States should not be mocking a woman who claims to be sexually assaulted?

Whether you believe Dr. Ford or not is IRRELEVANT.

I think we can all agree that the leader of our country, someone like all of us, could never actually know the full extent of the truth of that night, and should not be mocking a woman that claims she was sexually assaulted by a man? Can we please just all just agree on that?

I don’t want to give my opinion. Regardless of my beliefs, I am trying to come from an unbiased perspective and trying to get everyone on the same page.

Our current president has proven to divide people while also expressing immaturity and irrationality matched with closed-mindedness.

This isn’t new information but unfortunately has intensified and become increasingly more terrifying each and every single day.

It’s mind boggling to me that so long ago we heard these paralyzing words from our current president, Donald Trump:

“I did try and fuck her. She was married… I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything… I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful. I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

This isn’t a summary. These are the exact words that left Donald Trump’s mouth. No apology. No remorse.

What we did get was an insulting rationalization in the form of a disgusting explanation: locker room talk.

I try and wrap my mind around that moment as I think back to when those words were released. At the moment, I was somewhat relieved as I truly believed wholeheartedly that this would be the end of this monster spreading destructive, irrational ideologies throughout the United States.

That was two years ago. Without surprise, we’ve had more jaw dropping moments where Donald Trump reminds us time and time again what his true colors are.

Evil. Single-minded. Selfish. Ego-driven. Predator. Dangerous. Unstable. Irrational. Racist. Sexist. Ignorant. Mental.

Little by little, more and more Trump supporters have switched sides and the scandals get deeper and unbelievably more twisted.

I woke up today on vacation and immediately became nauseated from the news I discovered about Donald Trump not only mocking a woman who claimed to be sexually assaulted, but also contradicting every single point he made about Dr. Ford immediately after the hearing.

So let’s look at the facts.

Within a week, the President of the United States has expressed two entirely different opinions about a woman who claims to have been sexually assaulted. He didn’t point out that he changed his mind or even gave a reasoning. He just had a distinct opinion one day, and a different the next.

That alone shows that Donald Trump is unable to properly communicate, although he was elected President of the United States. That alone shows that we can’t take what Donald Trump says seriously, as that may change dramatically in just a weeks time.

Furthermore, if he doesn’t believe Dr. Ford, that’s his choice to make. But he decided to take it one step further and mock a woman who says she was sexually assaulted — a sexual assault that neither we nor Donald Trump was witness to.

He mocked her.

I am sick to my stomach about this human being, and I don’t think we can stop talking about it until he’s stopped once and for all.

I don’t think we can talk enough about how the President of the United States is sending a message of fear and doubt to anyone that wants to be brave enough to bring forward a story of sexual assault.

So let’s keep talking about it. We can’t stop. We can’t. There is too much to be done and although the president is trying to push us back in time, we will overcome.

We cannot stop talking about it.
