An Open Letter To Our Best Friends

By

Dear Friends,

To anyone who is lucky enough to have an amazing group of friends: hold on to them—hold on to them for dear life. You will find that life is nothing unless you have good people to share it with. Many people find this in their significant other, but why just limit you to one? Instead of having one soul mate, why not have a few.

When I look back at college, I may not remember every detail of every night but I will remember that it was spent with you guys. I always wished that I would make a group of friends as great as you guys, but I never thought that I would meet the right people. I wanted the perfect balance of hip, fun, crazy, and a little eclectic—well, friends, I have found that in you. You guys are my soul mates, my siblings, and my rocks.

It is always hard to remember to thank our friends for everything they do. A simple “Thank You” after they just listened to you vent for an hour about that guy who fucked you over, doesn’t cut it. I know you guys don’t expect a muffin basket or a fruit bouquet, but consider this letter as a fun treat—less calories, and less cellophane. We want our friends to know how much we appreciate them, but honestly just reciprocating the actions is enough. I know you guys know how much I love and cherish you because even words couldn’t do my appreciation justice.

Thank you for being there on those blackout nights when I was sloppy and holding my hair when I — well, you know. Thank you for that wine night after a really hard day. Thank you for being everything when I thought I had nothing. Thank you for never judging me, in any way shape or form. Thank you for pushing me to always strive to be the best version of myself and to never give a fuck about what other people think of me. Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart, for everything.

Love,
Your Friend.
