We Are All Sponges

By

We are all sponges.
We absorb everything,
All the good, And all the bad.

We absorb the people we see,
And the words they speak.
The things we drink.
The things we eat,

We absorb experiences,
Memories, faces and places.
We absorb everything and anything,
To fill our empty spaces.

And one day,
All we’ve absorbed will be squeezed out of us.
Through the tears and the screams.
Through the words for help we shout.
Anything and everything,
Will be squeezed out.

And not much will be left of us
After this has occurred.
Just an empty shell,
And another body to be burned.
