I Don’t Want Forever Yet

I don’t want forever. Not yet. I still barely know who I am as a human. How could I commit to forever with someone without knowing myself?

Give me a Saturday night in the city. Give me dinner and a movie. Give me go carts and fro-yo. And I will give you my thoughts and my dreams and everything I hope to accomplish in my twenties. I can’t promise you forever but I can promise you tonight.

I’m young. I don’t know what I want out of life yet. I don’t know if I want a picket fence or if I just want a life full of adventures. I just know I want to live in the moment. I want to travel and see all there is to see until I’m sick of it.

Give me a Sunday morning in the country. Give me IHOP and a walk in the park. Give me a day kayaking and a picnic on the riverbank. I can give you my fears and my fantasies. I can give you laughter and silliness. I can’t promise you forever but I can promise you today.

I don’t want forever. Not yet. I want to meet everyone worth my time. I want to learn about different cultures. I want to live every moment I’ve ever dreamed about. I can’t give anyone forever until I know where I plan to spend it.

I can give you a Friday night in Mexico. I can give you a drink and dancing. I can give you a football game and street food. And you can give me your music tastes and your favorite movies.

I can give you a Tuesday lunch date in Italy and you can give me your worries. You can give me your thoughts and your hopes. You can give me your views on religion and personal philosophies. You don’t have to promise me forever and I won’t expect it. Just promise me this moment and that’s enough.

I don’t want forever. Not yet. I want to live in the moment and see the world. I can’t promise anyone forever, but I can promise now will never be boring if you remember to live it without thinking of forever. TC mark
