I’m Unsure Of A Lot Of Things About The Future, But I’m Sure About You

From the very beginning, I didn’t think high school relationships could last. When we started our relationship, I never thought we would last this long. Almost four years now. We have had many great experiences together, but I’m more grateful that I’ve had you by my side through the bad experiences as well.

You easily became my best friend, the one I could always count on to be there when I needed someone. The one who dropped off food at my locker because I had to stay in class for lunch. The one who took me out on Fridays when everyone else was busy. And that’s how it started. Friday became our day, and it still is. We still make time every Friday, no matter how busy we are for the rest of the week, to spend time together. Even those days when we don’t feel like doing anything. I love our lazy days.

I love the fact that I’m still so head over heels in love with you like I was nearly four years ago. I love how when we’re walking in public, you make sure one of my hands are free so you can hold it. I love how mature you’ve gotten. Once upon a time, your pride being so high that you could never apologize first when we argued, even though you knew I didn’t do anything wrong. You might not think I notice it, but I do. When we argue now, I can see how much you’ve changed since then, and that’s also one of the many other things I love. I got to be by your side while we both changed and grew.

We’ve both made our fair share of mistakes, but the best part about it is that we accepted them and learned from them. We chose to grow from them. We chose not to forget about them because it’s a part of us now. It’s what shaped our relationship, but we also chose to leave it in the past. We healed apart and healed together.

I know many people think 21 is too young to know who you want to spend the rest of your life with. I have always been scared of marriage, coming from a broken family. But being with you takes all those fears away. I’m glad that we’re only 21 and we know that we want to spend the rest of our lives together because we get more time to be together.

I am unsure of a lot of things about the future, but the one thing I’m sure of is that we’re going to be together for a long time. Thank you for always making me feel the love I thought I didn’t deserve.
