To The People Who Feel Completely Hopeless

By

When we fail, when we lose control, when we hurt, there is a darkness that permeates our very being. We wonder what the point is. We feel defeated and alone. The weight of our struggle is monumental crashing down on us with relentless force reminding us of our inadequacies. The feeling of hopelessness becomes the only constant in our lives. Our confidence and sense of self-worth is fleeting.

Hopelessness does not leave so easily. It is a cancer that mutates and fundamentally changes us.

And, much like cancer, it can be cured.

I hope you know that feeling afraid and overwhelmed is a normal part of being human. It doesn’t make you weak, it doesn’t mean you aren’t capable; all it means is that you are a human being with thoughts, feelings, and emotions. In fact, you aren’t just a human being. You are a beautiful person. You have unique qualities, talents, and quirks that add value to the world. Focus on that. Remind yourself of who you are.

Let go of past failures. Let go of trepidation. Let go of uncertainty.

Stand tall with your head held high because you are powerful and you will overcome this hopeless feeling.

I want you to know that when your dreams seem more out of reach than ever, when success feels like a lifetime away, when it seems as if happiness is just a distant memory, you are not alone. Please know that there are people out there who care. Please know that I care. Please know that someone understands.

I have spent more time feeling isolated, out of control, and weak then I would care to admit. And if there is one thing I’ve learned throughout my experiences it’s that the feelings of despair, the anger, and the pain, will one day be gone and replaced with feelings of joy, accomplishment, success, and happiness as long as you hold on.

So please do not give up. Whatever your struggle is I urge you to move forward and fight back against the negative thoughts and feelings that plague your mind. I promise that you will be glad you did. I know you will be a success, someone who achieves their goals and feels happy and fulfilled. I just hope that you know it too.

Most importantly, I hope you know that you are not alone.
