5 Steps To Help You Get In Shape For Your Wedding!

“I really want to lose a size before my wedding.”

“My diet starts tomorrow.”

“I just signed a contract with a personal trainer to tone up for my big day.”

If I had a dollar for every time I heard some form or variation of the previous statements, I’d be a ridiculously wealthy girl.

As a wedding stylist, I want you to be the best you on your big day! You want to lose twenty pounds? Yes! You can do it! Let’s get started!

Here’s the thing, wedding planning is hectic enough without throwing a brand new fitness regime and insane dietary restrictions on top of your steadily growing to-do list. The same bride that tells me she wants to lose twenty pounds (which is what it would take to lose a whole size) comes back to see me closer to the day and she’s still in the same condition. However, there are a few subtle changes you can make that will make a big long-term difference and help you reach your wedding day goals!

DISCLAIMER: Please do not take this article the wrong way. I believe in healthy eating, not starvation. I believe in taking care of your body through proper diet and exercise — I will personally never be a size zero and I am at peace with this. I love kale chips, but I also love pizza. Life is about balance and loving yourself.

I am here to give you some minor advice that will help keep your bridal balance in check. If nothing else, give these a try and watch that tummy tone up!

1. Drink a cup of water first thing in the morning, and then one before every meal.

Water is seriously the real MVP. If you drink a water in the morning and before every meal, not only will you feel fuller throughout the day and eat less, your skin will be glowing!

2. Download an app on your phone and count calories.

FatSecret is great for this. It’s free, it’s easy, and it’s not time consuming. Even if you can’t track them every day, it will make you more aware of your intake and will keep you on track.

3. Find a workout that doesn’t feel like work.

I cannot stress this enough. If you are working out and you are doing something you genuinely do not like, change your workout. It’s hard enough to get off the couch to go to the gym or head outside without hating what you’re heading to go do. You hate a treadmill? Try a bike instead. You hate pilates? Try kickboxing. With all of the fitness options, there is no excuse to not find something that caters to your tastes.

4. Have a cheat day.

Not only does a cheat day taste wonderful and keep you from going insane (“If ONE more person brings in free cupcakes to work I’m going to scream”), it helps jump start your metabolism and keeps your energy levels up so you can get back into working out on Monday.

5. Invite the rest of the bridal party.

Having someone to swap recipes with, complain to about wanting that extra cupcake, and head to the gym together makes everything right with the world. Make it a group thing and it automatically becomes more fun!

Implement these five things into your daily routine and you will start noticing a difference in your body in no time!
