You very slowly let yourself open up to him. Once a few months have passed, you start letting your guards down. You know deep down that he deserves to know all of you, even the flaws and imperfections. He deserves to know all of you, even if you’re petrified for him to see all of you.
You will choose to work things out and you will always choose each other, no matter the odds.
I’m done feeling like a burden. Feeling like I am less of a fantastic human being because of a chemical imbalance in my brain. And if you can’t handle my imperfect life, if you can’t handle that I have a mental illness, you can walk away. You can get out of my life.
I hope you know that I would go through hell and back for you… That when I cling to you it’s because I don’t want to lose you because everyone I’ve ever loved has left.
You’ll begin to understand that anxiety cannot be healed. You’ll begin to understand that anxiety is not like a broken leg, or a sprained wrist. And you’ll begin to understand that anxiety is a chemical imbalance, not a cry for attention.
I need you to love my anxiety and understand that I am not being emotional for no reason. My anxiety likes to trick me into worrying about many problems, mainly the illogical ones.
You are loving someone who will kiss your demons away, because they have spent their whole lives fighting their own ones.
I know how you feel when we are about to enter a room. I can sense the dread as it overcomes you. I can see the way your footsteps want to cease and forcefully drag along.
Know that this illness does not make them weak. Know that it doesn’t make them crazy or unstable. Please just love them for who they are, and that includes the bad parts too. Just love them as they are.
