The show does an awesome job at crushing gender stereotypes and giving both Ilana and Abbi’s characters emotional and sexual freedom rarely shown on television for women.
Is this really true — that an average man’s default state of emotions is wholly unconnected to his sexual activity?
Existence as a woman is something that should be cherished and respected on principle alone.
Since we lost television’s favorite BFFs, Leslie and Ann on Parks & Rec, we’ve never needed Abbi and Ilana more than we do now.
WARNING: You’re about to fall in love with Broad City’s Ilana Glazer. If you haven’t seen her hit new Comedy Central show (FYIzzles, the finale is Wednesday, March 26th at 10:30EST), then you’re missing out on a transformative experience.
‘Broad City,’ farcical through and through, asks us to suspend disbelief.
“This is so great! Like, why are we waiting for guys to come to us, Ilana?! Did Amelia Earheart wait to be asked to fly around the world? Definitely not. She asked. And then they said no… but she still did it.”
Broad City is a web series starring UCB alum, Abbi Jacobson, and Ilana Glazer. It is currently in development with FX. (Abbi, and Ilana will share the Executive Producer credit with none other than Amy Poehler.) A few weeks ago, we caught up with them to talk about everything from Jewnicorn to blog-to-book deals.
