When You Realize How Lucky You Are To Have Your Friends

By

As this semester comes to a sudden halt, I have so much to be grateful for. One thing stands above all the rest, and that is the friendships I’ve made along the way. Being 500 miles away from home was way too easy for me to do, but one thing I feared was making real genuine friendships. Then I met y’all.

From the acquaintances that say “hey” to me every time we cross paths or to my absolute greatest friends who are there unconditionally, I feel so lucky to have you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Because of you, I have never felt alone.

Because of you, I found a support system. Because of you, I feel lovable.

I have fun, laugh and smile more because of you. Thank you for not judging me, but listening and giving me the best advice. Y’all brighten my days and motivate me. The variety of people I’ve met makes it all the more fun. College friends are special because they see it all – the good, the bad, definitely the ugly. But they don’t care because they are right there with you. It takes a special person to hear the same drama or same complaint over and over again but still listen again anyway.

Thank you for joining me in long drunken nights and going to Papa Johns at 2 in the morning. For studying in the library with me until we both feel confident and for always dancing to throwbacks with me.

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on during my breakdowns, which feel never-ending sometimes.

Life gets busy. We all too often forget to show people how much they mean to us, and how much we appreciate them.

I would really be missing out if I didn’t know you.
