This year’s darling at Sundance (winning the same award as last year’s surprise Sundance breakout, Whiplash) is being touted as one of the best coming of age movies in a long time — the film, adapted from a novel written by Jesse Andrews, follows the story of a teenage filmmaker who befriends a classmate dying of leukemia. The trailer is a peek into what looks like an honest, provocative, and impossible not to cry a lot type of film.

Me And Earl And The Dying Girl, written by Andrews and directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, stars Olivia Cooke, Thomas Mann, and RJ Cyler. It’s set to be released this June.
