Stop Losing Your Shit Over These 8 People Who Do Not Matter

By

1. Shitty bosses.

They will come and go. And as soon as you both step outside that building, their power is gone. They’re totally irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. And if you hate them that much, just quit. There will always be other jobs. Hating your life and begrudgingly getting out of your bed each morning is simply not worth a crummy title next to your name on a piece of paper. Your happiness and inner peace hold far more weight.

2. Assholes who ghost, lie or cheat.

The truth is, you are powerless to change how anyone in this world decides to act. All you can do is be a little more careful with your heart the next time around, and cut out anyone in your life who disrespects you, or makes you cry when you’re alone at night. Immediately get rid of them.

We should be the ones feeling sorry for them, because they lack the tools to wholly love another human being. How depressing is that?

3. Strangers who are rude to you.

You will never be done encountering rude or impatient people and every time you do, you’ll drive yourself crazy wondering why they can’t just behave decently?

The next time someone barges into you on the sidewalk, doesn’t say thank you when you hold the door for them, or directs an unpleasant comment towards you when you’re simply minding your own business – immediately let go of your anger and frustration, and smile. Go to your happy place. It drives people like that insane.

4. All of the ones who said you’d never be successful.

There’s always going to be someone – parents, teachers or even partners who don’t believe in you. People who were quick to write you off as a failure. But don’t get mad – get really good at something. World-class good. Let your success speak to their lack of faith in you.
5. The ones who called you names at school
You’ve gotta love Facebook for how easily you’re able to check up on everyone you’ve ever crossed paths with. You’ll be amazed at how many times the popular kids peak in high school, and how the hot kids have gotten waaaaaaay less hot.
Being kind, being different and being smart are completely underrated, but once you leave you’ll realize these are some of the best things you could ever hope to be.

School is irrelevant. Get yourself through it and get on with what you’re here to do.

6. That barista in the coffee shop who asked for your name three times, and still managed to spell your name wrong.

If this is the only problem you have in life, wake the hell up and realize there are kids going to bed starving every night, people half your age are suffering with terminal illness, and you are so damn lucky to be living a life filled with people serving you fancy, over-priced hot drinks.

7. Anyone who makes you feel like you’re not good enough.

The only opinion that matters when it comes to your life is your own. As long as you think you’re awesome, who gives a fuck what anyone else thinks? You are not living for them. This is your life. Make yourself proud.

8. Friends who turn out not to be good friends.

We’ve all lost a best friend over the years, and it really sucks, I know it does. But there’s nothing worse than keeping someone in your life who is having a negative influence on you, or is causing you pain.

Remember the good times, move forwards and make room for kind, honest people who you can count on. Your life will be so much better for it in the long run.

Sometimes, all it takes is one book. One book that turns your world upside down. One book that changes your entire life.
