For all those years I was looking for love, for all those romantic comedies I watched, for all the pop songs I sang along to, for the relationships that lasted years and for the relationships that lasted the length of a night, I didn’t realize the truth about love until very recently.
I feel as though I could trace my fingertips
along the ebbs and flows of all the
arches and bends of your personality
with my eyes closed and I wouldn’t
wander off track
I’m sure if we started living in this way that we’d spend a lot less time hating ourselves, and a lot more time spent creating and spreading love, kindness and happiness.
“To fail is not to admit defeat. Failing doesn’t make you a failure. Trust yourself, trust in the timing of your lives and above all, never lose hope in your journey. One wrong turn does not equate to a wrong life.”
You have to remember to be brave. Live life without fear of how people perceive your body to look like. Stop wishing that you were smaller. Take up more space. Be brave enough to ignore the idea that you should exist in the way the world tells you that you should.
Do not give up. I am writing this letter from a place of power, happiness and contentment. Be safe in the knowledge that you are growing towards this.
You are the reason certain pieces of art catch my eye. You are the reason I have spent hours reading poetry from the greats and the not-so-greats.
