To Everyone Who Was Told That The Way They Love Is Wrong

By

Don’t believe them. What do they know?

They’ll tell you not to be too honest at first or wear your heart on your sleeve but they don’t know that this is your nature, this is your core, you can’t stop it and you can’t change it because you secretly love it. You secretly believe that this is the way to live and the way to love. You don’t always say that out loud but you believe that those who are like you will appreciate it and they won’t make you feel bad about it.

They’ll tell you you’re too sensitive, you’re too emotional, you get ahead of yourself but they don’t know that this is your heart and you were born to follow it. They don’t know that you’re not one of those people who can just switch off their heart and follow their mind. They don’t know that your logic is in your heart. Your heart guides you and maybe it took you to the wrong destinations a few times but you have faith that it will eventually take you to the right one.

They’ll tell you you’re crazy. For getting upset over nothing, for getting attached too soon, for showing your frustration or anger, for letting your emotions get the best of you. But they don’t know that your problem is believing people only to realize that they were lying to you. They don’t know that your reaction is coming from a sincere place because someone promised you love then took it away. Someone played with your heart. Someone took you for granted.

They’ll tell you to not think about and it will come when you least expect it to, but they don’t know that you can’t live without it. It’s the air you breathe. You’re a hopeless romantic. You’re an old soul. You believe in eternal love and fairytales. You believe in utopia. You believe in magic. You believe that’s why we’re all born, to find love and let it find us.

They’ll tell you that times have changed and now you need to play by the rules but they don’t know that you suck at these games. You’ll never be the person who doesn’t show someone what they mean to them or wastes a chance to tell someone you love them. You’ll never be the person who plays hard to get or acts like they don’t care. You’ll never be the person who tries so hard to care less or pretends like they have no feelings. You’ll always care. You’ll always want love and you’ll always do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for the way you love, don’t let anyone tell you that your heart is a fool. Don’t let them tame your wild heart. Don’t let them tame you.
