Passion is currently playing in the theatres somewhere on its way to being forgotten, but if there’s any justice in the world, this glorious trainwreck will find the cult following it deserves.

Brian de Palma tries to make Dressed to Kill in 2013 with Rachel McAdams in the Michael Caine role, and every single second of the movie is utterly hilarious, it’s campiness becoming a form of high art. Our section of the theatre spent the entire film giggling, as Passion devolved into a bizarre S&M lesbian wet dream, like an alternate universe version of Mulholland Dr.

The movie’s plot twist you can see coming a mile away — if you’ve ever seen a movie before — and every emotion and narrative beats is broadcast like an ad on the side of a bus. This is because De Palma knows not what subtlety is. And you know what? God love him for it.
