Some people shouldn’t quit their day job, but Bill Cosby was determined to make fetch happen with a movie career, on top of his hit TV show. It’s rare that someone has been so effective on television but so inept in film. After the epic failure that was Leonard Part 6, Cosby dipped his toes back in the cinematic waters with Ghost Dad, a movie that can’t even both to adhere to its own logic. Like The Stepford Wives remake and robots, this film seems unclear about what the definition of a ghost is. Sometimes he can walk through walls, other times Cosby can pick things up, no questions asked. Sometimes his children can see him, clear as day, others he’s strangely invisible.

However, it’s not just this one detail that ruins the film. It’s every detail of every scene, which strains plausibility and human logic, ending in a climactic scene where Cosby’s daughter is now a ghost, and they weigh the pros and cons of being dead. It’s one for the ages — and directed by Oscar-winner Sidney Poitier.
