33 Heartwrenching Last Words Of People On Their Deathbed

My mom has a huge fear of dead and dying bodies, so she couldn’t bring herself to be in the room the last hour or so, but wanted to say goodbye to my dad in the last few minutes.

My dad flatlined before we could go get my mom, but I kept telling him that she was coming and wanted to say goodbye. After what seemed like a couple minutes (could have been a 30 seconds but it felt longer), his heart rate flickered and spiked for about two minutes. My mom got to say goodbye, and give him a kiss, and about a minute after she left the room, he went. He held on long enough for her to say goodbye, and long enough for her to leave the room, which was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.

I was sitting with my grandmother in her bedroom. The doctors said there was no reason to keep her in the hospital, but rather to let her go home and die in peace. She had lung cancer and they kept her on a morphine drip. She was out of it for about 4 days and then while I was sitting alone with her, she suddenly sat straight up in her bed, looked at a corner of the room, on the opposite side of where I was, eyes wide open, mouth agape, and she said, “My god, you’re so beautiful.” Then her eyes closed and she slumped back into the bed. She died about 5 minutes later. Say what you will about the afterlife, but I think an angel was there to take her home.

I work in pediatrics and the saddest confession I heard came from my six year old terminal cancer patient. She said that she blamed her brother one time for a bad thing she did. Her brother got in trouble and she thought God punished her with cancer and she thought if she set things straight he’d spare her. She died before she could apologize to her brother.
