I Want A Life Of Adventure With You, And I Won’t Apologize For That

I want adventure.
I always have.

And I’m not talking about cliff jumping and skydiving and riding on backs of elephants across the desert (though I do want to try all of those things at least once) but I’m talking about doing, about going, about making a list of wonderful and silly and fun and sometimes crazy things and doing them together. Crossing them off, one by one.

See, what I really want, more than anything, is you and a life filled with excitement.

I want to travel to new places, see incredible things. And I also want to experience what’s right around us—every restaurant around town, the haunted houses in our neighborhood, the paths along the river, the tiny trinket shops that we always pass by but never walk in.

I want to experience it all.

I want to see the world and soak its wonder into our pores. I want to feel your hand in mine as we walk through forests, or worn gravel roads, or museum hallways. I want our eyes to light up as we study the bones of a dinosaur, or for us to laugh uncontrollably as we splash down waterslides.

I want to wake up with a new idea for each week: a place we will go, a site we will see, an adventure—little or big—that we can do together.

Some part of the world that we can experience, that we can make ours.

See, I’ve always thought it was beautiful to see people together, hand in hand, at the wonders of the world, or in the little coffee shops around my house. How happy they must be, I always thought, as they share their worlds, as they spend their days together.

I want that.

I don’t want to wake up and live a boring, routine existence: get up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, fall asleep. I don’t need a million things; I don’t need thousand dollar vacations and your undivided attention, but I do want adventures with you.

And if that makes me sound demanding, I’m really not sorry. Because all I want is you, is us, is our love, together taking on the world.

I want your time and your touch, your adventurous side, your longing to experience. I just want you, in all your forms, to discover what’s out there. Discover it with me.

I want us to wake up and imagine places we will be. Then go. I want us to see the world as our playground, and never not explore it, never not swing from the monkey bars or dig our toes deep in the sand.

I want us to see all the beautiful, little things all around us and make adventures out of them.

The little pond down the road becomes a picnic spot, the bike trail around the neighborhood becomes our racetrack, the grocery store becomes a competition to see who can find the things we need the fastest, the café on the other side of town becomes a date where we try each flavor of cream cheese and laugh, laugh, laugh.

It’s about the adventures. Creating adventures. OUR adventures. Together.

It’s about seeing the world—the wild, the simple—and making something out of our days together.

It’s about our fingers intertwined, our eyes sparkling with joy, and our laughter as the soundtrack to our memories.

And I want all of that with you, unapologetically.

Every corner store, every trip across the country, every silly souvenir, every smile we’ve shared. I want our memories to look back on, our stories to tell. I want to fall more and more in love with every step we take. I want you, us, ours. Forever.

So dream with me, plan with me.
