This Is The Kind Of Girl You Need To Wait For

Emily Higgins told us all about the type of guy we need to wait for. Here is the type of girl you need to wait for.

The kind of girl you need to wait for is not the girl with the perfect body, with the flat as pancake abs, and with the golden locks that always seem to shine brighter than the sun.

The kind of girl you need to wait for is not the girl who has it all. She’s not the girl who has the best job, the best pair of legs that go on for days, and the most perfect pair of pouty lips that you have ever seen.

No, the girl you need to wait for is a girl who is not only kind, but real.

You need to wait for the girl who has a wildfire in her eyes when she talks about her goals and her dreams. You need to wait for the girl who speaks in music notes, and talks in poetry. You need to wait for the kind of girl who has been through shit and tragedy, who has been through despair and heartbreak, and who has found the strength within herself to keep walking.

You need to wait for the girl who has faith in her ability to make the world a better place. Who believes in herself, to a degree that astounds you. You need to wait for the girl who walks with the grace and confidence of someone who has just won the lottery.

You need to wait for the girl who knows her own worth, but also knows that she has a long ways to go.

Wait for the girl who has some sadness in her eyes, but also who holds hope and love for life in her soul.

Wait for the girl who has a story. A story that you desperately need to read and to explore.

You need to wait for the girl who has flaws. Who has cellulite on her thighs and imperfect marks scattered across her skin. For the girl with laugh lines and love handles that hug her hips. You need to wait for the girl who you find to be absolutely breathtaking with her authenticity and her realness that you never could get from a girl on the front page of a magazine.

You need to wait for the girl who knows that she is a bright light, who knows that settling would be a mistake. Who knows that she deserves someone who will hold her when she needs to be held, but to give her space when she needs to be left alone.

You need to wait for the girl with kindness etched on every inch of her heart. With boldness and strength marked on her scars, and with confidence and self-worth written on her imperfections.

Don’t wait for your ‘ideal’ girl. Don’t wait for the ‘picture perfect girl’. There is no such thing as perfection. Beauty fades. Beauty grows older. So wait for the girl with beauty and youth in her heart. And wait for the girl who will love you just as much as you will love her.

Do not look for someone with a plastic heart. Do not look for someone who will only love you for a little while. Look for the girl who tastes of adventures and sunrises. Who doesn’t take crap from anyone and knows how to hold her own. Who smells of ocean air and of hot coffee in the morning. Who will lift you up when you can’t lift yourself up, and who will cover your world in happy faces marked forever on your every bone.

Wait not for the perfect one. Wait not for the flawless one. But for the imperfect, reckless, strong one, the one who will make you laugh till you can’t breathe and the one who you know will always, always, be there for you. No matter the damage that time does on your exteriors and no matter the baggage that you carry with you from the past.

Wait for it. I promise you, it’ll be so worth the wait. You’ll find her one day. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
