Maybe We Were Meant To Be

This Is What Kind Of Girlfriend You Are, Based On Your Moon Sign

Note the first: your moon sign is only one aspect of your personalities.

Note the second: your moon sign does not give you permission to be an asshole. In case anybody misunderstood the point of this article

Your moon sign is who you are on the inside. Like its power over tides, a moon can be the invisible influence on your character. Moon signs are associated with deep emotions, who you are under all the bustle and rustle, and who you become in intimate relationships. So in addition to looking all all other aspects of your birth chart, you should probably be aware of your moon sign if you need a hint about who you are with your partner. (Or do lots of therapy. Whatever challenges you more.)

Aries Moon

Your sun may be in free-loving Gemini or otherworldly Aquarius, but a moon in Aries can be the hallmark of a stubborn, determined heart. You will not be pushed and you will not be cajoled in a relationship. You will only “settle” when you bloody well decide to settle, and you will settle on your own terms. If you end up in a “traditional” relationship, it would be because it pleases you. If not, you will not let others’ opinions get you down. But be careful! Change is slow and patience can pay off better than storming the gates. If you find a partner you click with, and they’re advising caution in some situations, don’t take it as a sign that they’re being obtuse or trying to hold you back. They may see things you don’t, and it’s good to have a co-pilot who makes sure all systems are go before your next adventure.

Taurus Moon

You know what you want and you’re willing to work for it if your moon is in Taurus. Your ideal relationship is with somebody who matches your emotional investment. Wishy-washy individuals, one-night-stands, Netflix-and-chill, that is not what you are about. You know the best things in life take investment and time, and you appreciate the person who puts in the work and wins your affection. HOWEVER! Be careful not to hang on too tightly to what you see as “security” or outwardly signs of “having it made”. Sometimes we need to embrace change instead of digging our heels in order to live our best lives, and it’s important to remember that even the most hard-earned relationship can still run its course.

Gemini Moon

Your biggest turnoff is “I dunno what I want, you pick, (babe).” A relationship where you’re the only one having an opinion? See ya! Your moon is in Gemini, so I won’t bore you with cliches about looking for your “other half” – you thrive on lively debate, idea generation, and dreaming. You will run out of steam if you’re with somebody who’s default answer is “Huh,” “Whut,” and “Maybe, what are we eating tonight?” The danger to you is if you both get carried too far away with what could be, instead of thinking about how to get there. Your pie in the sky is great, but how will you go and get a slice? That is the kind of question your ideal partner will be asking.

Cancer Moon

You don’t know what “high maintenance is”, and even if you did, you would rather be alone for the rest of your life than become “one of those women”. That may seem judgy to some, but you know that you have one life, so you should focus your efforts on the people around you, surrounding yourself with love, and bringing care and joy to those around you. No-one can accuse you of not being attuned to your partner’s needs, and you will blossom when they show you they see what you do for them, and that they love you for it. However, loving your people should not stop you from protecting yourself, especially if your moon is in Cancer. We all have bad periods in our lives, but your ideal partner should be someone who can give as well as take.

Leo Moon

Don’t be sceptical if you never liked bling, big hair, luxury, or drama. The characteristics of a Leo Moon can be a lot more subtle (yes, really) – displayed in how you treat your loved one, how unashamed you are of affection, how readily you embrace the opportunity to make their dreams come true. Your partner has a fantasy or a secret ambition? Nothing will make you happier than getting them there. You, of course, expect nothing less from them – you know your worth, and will not be treated shabbily! – but you implicitly believe they will give you your due because they recognize you as the absolute treasure that you are. Maybe, though, you should rein it in, at least at the beginning – your gregarious and generous heart will not shrivel up if you test the ground before staking it as your own.

Virgo Moon

Your partner may sometimes tell you that they can’t read you at all. If your moon is in Virgo, there is probably no greater compliment. Your ideal date is an outing that enriches your minds as well as your hearts and souls – a nature walk to rid the local park of rubbish, a trip to the museum, an all-nighter when you play 50 questions (your date may find it amusing, and you will laugh too, but deep down, you will be filing every nugget of information for future reference). You are a deep thinker, Virgo, and that means you care a lot about what other people view as insignificant. With the wrong partner, you can be perpetually focused on the doom and gloom. Find someone who will go to a protest march and help you campaign for a better world, but let them lift you up too. You deserve it.

Libra Moon

Justice, honor, and beauty. No, you’re not Sailor Moon, (the Scales are ruled by Venus) but you strive for harmony, and when you are in love, you can find your life to be pretty much complete (why else would they keep Usagi and Mamoru apart for so many bloody seasons?) As a girlfriend, you will bring life and colour and richness to your lover’s life. You do not tolerate arguments, so whenever one erupts, you will always strive to broker peace between all aggrieved parties. However, some arguments cannot be weighed up as being “right” or “wrong”, and what’s logical is not always what a situation needs. If your moon is in Libra, don’t be tempted to force “logic” where you need to lean into your feelings. Remember that your partner should meet you halfway, too, and “reasons are for reasonable people.”

Scorpio Moon

Do you feel the need to reinvent yourself after a breakup, or when you are in a new relationship? Do you blaze with a passion so intense, people cannot help but pay attention to you? (And you thought Leos were the spotlight-stealers of the Zodiac.) The Scorpio Moon is intense and so it should be – your lover is the center of your universe and when you are together, no-one else exists. Your devotion is absolute – provided, of course, that they do the same. Like all the other signs that love strongly, you need to feel secure in a relationship, and that your trust is well-placed. If someone hurts you or betrays you? You will raze everything to the ground (metaphorically) and start over. The problem with there being no half-measures, though, is that it does set you up for disappointment more often. Like those with their moon in Aries, it’s good to reign in your expectations and play the long game – and minimize the amount of bonfires that you set!

Sagittarius Moon

You like to live life to the fullest, and you don’t like to limit yourself in love. Open and gregarious, the Sagittarius Moon is the life of the party, the life of every company, and very likely one of the most exciting things to have happened in your lover’s life, possibly ever. Relationships should be based on acceptance and open-mindedness: you do not tell people how they should dress, how they should call themselves, or police their use of grammar. Heaven help your lover if they try to control you, or get jealous of time you spend with your friends. You take time to get into relationships, but when you do, it is because you trust the person – and you do not appreciate it if they don’t trust you back. Conflict, of course, can arise if you’re too quick to condemn somebody for having “limitations” – remember, some people’s experiences have taught them to be reserved, and boundaries are important ways of knowing how they should and should not be treated. Stop expecting the walls to come down and look for a door instead – you never know what you can learn.

Capricorn Moon

Your boyfriend may complain that you’re all work and no play, but maybe he can try to put in a few more hours in the office to make rent next month so that you can relax! Like your counterpart in Cancer, those born under a Capricorn Moon are hard grafters and they do not shrink from responsibility. Indeed, you take pride in the fact that you always rise to the challenge. Where others might be put off in love, you will not run away. Your plans are always solid, your bills are always paid, and your couple will run like a well-oiled machine if you have your way. The problem, of course, when you’re always putting out fires, is that you have little energy to work on your own passions. You may find yourself drawn to artist types and free-thinkers: people who let you live vicariously through their own exploits. But you don’t have to do that – what you need is to honor your own passions, and find somebody who won’t let you pick up their slack.

Aquarius Moon

To some people, you may seem like an alien – someone who thinks and feels so far out of what is “the norm” that it’s easier to dismiss you as flighty or foolish (or slutty) than to take you seriously. In your younger years, you may get cast as the MPDG, especially if you lean into your Aquarius Moon – but you will soon learn to resist this kind of objectification. You may need to be on your own for a while, perhaps longer than any other sign, but when you find your person, you will be better equipped to tell your own story, to live the life you want (instead of letting others ascribe whatever kooky ideas they have on you.) Truth is, you resist literal-mindedness, and you make your lover’s world more beautiful. Make sure they ground you so that you can properly fly!

Pisces Moon

No one can accuse you of not being in touch with your feelings. To bastardize Anais Nin, your moon must be in Pisces because you are at home with depths and terrified of shallow water. In a relationship, you are the romantic one, always ready to rumble emotionally, not because you are impervious to pain, but because you believe that the reward is worth the effort. You believe in people’s complexities and you are the most trustworthy of persons. You may find that people are always drawn to you for advice, which, if unchecked, can become the greatest source of contention in your relationship (because your partner thinks you’re spreading yourself too thin) or the biggest driver (as your partner stumbles into crisis after crisis, leaving no space for you to have a life of your own). Where other Water signs might need devotion and security, you are the one who swims in stormy seas the most, and as such are vulnerable to being held hostage to someone else’s needs. Love deeply, but look after yourself first. Sometimes, a puddle is just a puddle. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
