When You Think You’re Having A Bad Day Then You Watch The News

I was having the worst day. Traffic was a nightmare. I spilled my coffee. The phone was ringing off the hook. And a co-worker was making my work day hell. I complained about it to those closest to me and then stopped. I realized that THIS is not a bad day, not even close.

I thought about all of the violence and hatred that has been happening in the world today. I thought about all of the innocent people that have lost their lives. I thought of the blood shed for no reason at all…I cried. My heart is broken for these people. These people who won’t ever be able to complain about a “bad day” again. These people who won’t be able to come home to their families.

Then I thought about the families and the friends of these beautiful, innocent people and how my “bad day” is NOTHING compared to the pain and suffering they are going through. That emptiness that they will feel.

The light on this world is slowly dimming and it’s because of all the sickness, hate and violence in it. A world where we each create our “safe havens” and never think that we will be harmed. A world where people kill each other for reasons I will never understand. This world is harsh. This world is cruel.

This world is scary. The hardest thing to do in this world is live in it. But, it doesn’t need to be that hard. We need compassion, acceptance, peace and most importantly LOVE.

It is with these things that we can truly conquer the violent and scary world we live in. We need to come together, unite and just spread the love with one another…family, friends, even those we do not know. These attacks that happen every day on innocent people are getting out of hand and it’s heartbreaking. Let’s stand together and just LOVE one another.

Be grateful for the life you have. Be grateful for the good and the not so good days. Be grateful you are alive. Be grateful for the people in your life. You never know when someone’s hatred, anger and violence can take these things away from you.

So, my bad day was not a bad day at all. I was alive. All I can do is spread love everywhere I go. Be accepting of everyone and just be kind to one another. Stop hurting other humans in this crazy, scary, beautiful world we live in. WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE TOGETHER.
