The Badass Way To Conquer Life After College

“While taking great leaps forward, life often turns to shit before it turns to Shinola” – Jen Sincero author of  ‘You Are A Badass’

Life after college can be tough. It is as though you had a safety blanket wrapped tightly around you for the past four years and then all of a sudden it is quickly yanked off. Post-graduation is the time to finally establish yourself as an adult in the real world. It can be petrifying and absolutely exhilarating at the same time. Being young you are learning and with that come mistakes. It can be real easy to find yourself slipping into what Jen Sincero calls “The Big Snooze.”

In her New York Times bestseller You are a Badass, Jen Sincero says, “The Big Snooze operates according to your limiting false beliefs (otherwise known as your comfort level.” Everyone has a Big Snooze side and then everyone has a Superhero side. It isn’t until you wake up from your Big Snooze that you are able to tap into all of the resources available to you and conquer ultimate badassery.

Finding that inner confidence is essential to achieving your dreams. As a post-grad, you are in your prime years and motivation is the key. Jen Sincero gives some remarkable and practical advice on fueling your confidence and taking complete control over your life.

As a current Senior, I am nervous about the road ahead, and I don’t think that will ever change – which is completely normal and okay. Here are some motivational points Sincero states in her book that I have taken along with me in my post-grad journey that may just help you too:

“Deciding means jumping in all the way, doing whatever it takes, and going after your dreams with the tenacity of a dateless cheerleader a week before prom night.”

In other words, don’t hold back when it comes to chasing your dreams. You need to put yourself out there all the way not just a little bit.

Jumping in without a clue in the world may be the scariest thing to do, but it will be the most beneficial for you. You never know what the outcome will be unless you try.

“The Universe will match whatever vibration you put out. And you can’t fool The Universe.”

If you put good things into the world, then you are going to receive good things back. Don’t waste your time surrounding yourself with negative energy because it will get you nowhere. The more positive you are the more open you are to change and the amazing opportunities that will come your way.

“When we’re happy and all in love with ourselves, we can’t be bothered with the bullshit.”

Have you ever been told that loving yourself is the most amazing feeling in the world? When you love yourself you notice your self-worth and that is empowering. Your eyes are open to what you deserve and what makes you happy.

When you love yourself you are more readily to embrace what is best for you and leave the negativity behind. It is important to love yourself because when you do, then you are unstoppable.

‘We throw a wet blanket of ho-hummery over our lives when we live in fear of what others might think, instead of in celebration of who we are.”

In other words, when you care how others perceive you than it hinders your greatness. By worrying about what people may think you calculate your actions and decisions on thoughts that aren’t your own. How can you follow your dream if you’re too worried about others? It’s important to tune out everyone else and center in on you.

“Most answers reveal themselves through doing, not thinking.”

Stop thinking and act now. Turn off that nagging voice that is saying you can’t do it. Instead of sitting there wishing you could be doing something else, actually do it! You will never get anywhere in life unless you try and trying is such a great achievement.

There will be road bumps and miscalculations, but remember that’s okay! If you try and keep some of these quotes in mind with you after college, then you are sure to be on the right path to conquering your life.
