19 People Talk About Their Ridiculously Incompetent Coworkers And Wonder How The Hell They Were Hired

4. The woman I used to share an office with when I first started at my job would come in at 10:30am, complain about how she had nothing to do (when, in reality, she had a lot to do), and proceeded to leave at 2:30pm, claiming, “I’ll just work from home the rest of the day”.

She also napped at her desk, walked around barefoot, watched movies, talked to her friends loudly on the phone, fell asleep in meetings, and often took naps in her car.

Yes, she was fired.

5. I used to work at a movie rental place in a pretty small town, a lot of the time there would only be one of us working. This one stoner guy that also worked there used to just straight up leave work, not lock anything, make food and then come back to work and eat it. One time my manager came in to rent a movie and there were ten angry customers, some of whom had been waiting for over 20 minutes just standing there and this guy was nowhere to be found. My boss fired him after that. He also stole movies like you would not believe.

6. I had a case manager (I was a therapist for a foster care agency) once who was absolutely atrocious. She was constantly either really late or really early for meetings. When she was late it was my fault for “scheduling the wrong time” even though SHE made the schedule. When she was early she would admonish me in front of clients for not being “on time”.

I don’t think she understood proper hygiene at all. Her nails were always dirty and she rarely washed her hair. She had really unkempt feet and insisted on wearing sandals even though the company didn’t allow open toe shoes.

She would regularly question diagnoses and interventions I recommended for the kids, in front of them. Her paperwork was never done by the deadline. She’d take the day off without using sick days. She was diabetic and if she really wanted to go home early she would eat junk to skyrocket her blood sugar and she conveniently never had insulin anywhere but at home.

The last straw which made me tell my supervisor to fire her/retrain her or I’m gone was this one time she insisted on sitting in on an assessment.

She was in school, it was for a class. Ok, fair enough, I’ve been there, too. We get into the assessment with a preteen girl who had suffered some sexual trauma at the hands of her father and the case manager keeps interrupting with shit like, “Oh my God, my dad loves me, he’d never do something like that to his kids,” or “Was there any part of you that enjoyed it?” Holy shit guys, I raged.

Two weeks later the powers that be did a performance review and found that she’d not been turning in necessary forms to the state and all kinds of stuff in addition to her idiocy and basic lack of common sense. She got fired, finished school and is now a therapist herself at another local agency. God help those poor children.
