The Night Sky

By

Don’t you love those early summer nights? The nights where it still cools off before the sun goes down, and you can still feel a bit of the spring breeze left. The nights where it is 9pm, and you can still see a faint hint of the sun in the western sky.

When the sun finally sets, and the darkness sets in, the exciting things can start. Bonfires seem brighter. Crickets seem louder. Music hits you a different way.

Then comes my favorite part. The stars. Who doesn’t love the stars?

Have you ever laid in the back of a pickup truck filled with pillows and blankets on a cool summer night, staring at the stars above you? Have you ever spent hours searching for every constellation you remember from astronomy?

I have.

I will lay in the cool grass at night and stare at the sky for hours.

Why? Because it’s calming. It’s reassuring.

To me, laying alone at night watching the stars makes me feel like the world and all my problems just fade away and I’m just a girl, laying on the ground, staring at the beauty of the sky above me. Sometimes it can be calming. Sometimes it can be centering. And other times, when the world just seems so heavy and you want to escape.. the night sky can become your safe place.

The stars become your light… and that’s not a bad thing.

So, go outside tonight. I’m sure you’ll love it.
