Act On It, Don’t Wait

Easier said than done – trust me, I know. Hear me out though.

Every minute is precious. It can be grim to look at life that way from time to time, but it’s true. Don’t see this as scary. Instead, look at it as motivating. Knowing that life will be over before we know it, we can only come to one logical conclusion – don’t waste it.

Don’t waste a minute or even another second for that matter. Take some R&R when needed, but the rest of the time you should be thinking, planning, or making moves.

What do you want to do?

What do you love to do?

How can you make the world a better place?

These are the kinds of questions we all should ask ourselves. There are days that I’m unsure of what I’m doing, but that doesn’t mean I’m doing nothing. If you do nothing, then nothing will happen. Cool things aren’t going to fall into your lap. You won’t meet anyone new or interesting. You won’t go out and have awesome experiences. You won’t improve the world, your life, or the lives of those around you. So, to avoid all of these results, it follows that you should get out there and do something. Go out and have those experiences and meet those new people.

The laws of motion apply to you here. You are the object at rest and you’re going to stay that way unless you act upon yourself to change that. But, the best part is that once you are in motion, you’re going to stay that way. Getting up, getting out there, and doing something is just like training a muscle. The more you do it, the easier it gets, and the more you can start to do it without even thinking twice. I’ve got to give a shout out to the Ace Man Adam Carolla for always reminding me to be productive. He says that if you’re in a rut, go for a walk, listen to some music, and basically get your body moving. Once you get going physically, the mental game will follow. If you’re stuck, give it a try.

You’ve been reading this long enough. Go ahead and start thinking about what it is you want to do. Then, take a first step toward making it happen. Tomorrow, take another step and so on and so on and so on. At some point, share what you are up to and help others do something cool too.
