You Were Meant For More

Hold me down for a while, for I shall soon rise like the sun and soar like an eagle.

We all have our own personal struggles. Whether that be issues with familial relations, romantic relations, education, mental illness etc. These things wear us down. They tear us apart and turn us inside out. However, we should not allow them to hold us down because they all help us learn and grow into better individuals. I tell people all the time: If you don’t like where you are in life, take control! You have more control than you think.

If you dislike the relationship you’re in, let that person know and free yourself. Then pursue the person you truly want to be with. If you dislike your job, quit and find another one. Pursue that job you’ve always thought about. If you dislike where you live, move! Move to Napa and enjoy the view of mountains that go on for miles. If you dislike your major, change it. And then change it again and again! Go from majoring in Chemistry to majoring in Philosophy because you realize that the formation of theoretical principles stimulates your mind in unimaginable ways. That the critical thinking skills you once used in Chem can be better utilized in your new degree plan. Do and get involved in things that inspire you to be a better person. Things that are going to bring you to that better you. That awesome person.

Start with YOU, my dear. Because in order for you to help others rise—you must first, rise.

Take care of yourself. Do not neglect your needs and wants. Focus on yourself and then focus on others. If you do not take heed, my dear, you will suffer the consequences. You cannot help others grow if you yourself have not grown. You cannot help others if you have not helped yourself.

Flourish, my dear. For you were meant to do great things and explore. You don’t have to change the world, but change yourself! Be open to change because change is a blessing. Without change, life would be a constant. Life would be meaningless. Change develops you, it helps you grow. Change will evolve you, transform you.

It’s okay to feel weak, my dear.
It’s okay to feel sad, my dear.

It’s okay to feel annoyed, unaccomplished, depressed. It’s okay to FEEL, my dear. You are human and you are beautiful.

Embrace your humanistic qualities because this is you and you have no obligation to justify why you feel the way you do. Feels these things.

Let these emotions fill you up so you can recycle them into the strength you need to persevere; the strength you will utilize to be better. Take note, my dear. Keep learning because you will remember these experiences. These experiences will not define you, however they will guide you. They will bring you closer to that better you.

It’s okay to be down, but don’t stay down for too long. For you will soon rise like the sun and soar like an eagle.
