If I Leave This Earth Before You, Please Promise Me This

If it so happens that, well, my time comes before you, promise me, love, that you will love. That you will find happiness in someone else, that you will find comfort in someone else’s warm heart. Promise me that you will give your heart what it desires.

I know how crazy this sounds, but please, do so for me.

Promise me that you will take care of yourself for me, especially your heart. Promise me that you will not let my demise, or anyone else, break you into unrecoverable little pieces. Stand by your heart. Be strong for me.

Promise me that you will not curse. That you will not cry yourself to sleep each and every night. Promise me that you will be as strong as ever.

Promise me that you will understand. That you won’t blame me, that you won’t hate me for leaving you all alone in this scary world. Promise me that you will understand that it won’t be my choice to leave you all by yourself. And that if it were up to me, I would have wished for forever with you, for I would have never gotten enough of you.

Promise me that you will keep me in memory. That I will always have a special place in your beautiful heart. That no matter who holds your hand, that there will always be a tiny bit of you that beats for me.

Promise me that you will not cease to pray. Pray, my love, for the world isn’t quite the place we’ve always dreamt of. I promise to always pray for you, to look over you in each and everything you do.

Promise me that you will have an eye out. That you will always be on the look for anything that could be a threat to your heart. Promise me that you won’t allow the situation or anything in general to change you. Promise me that you will always be the iron I’ve known you to be.

Promise me that you will always have time for the people who have time for you.

I’m still here love, and I will always be, even if I leave this earth before you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
