You’re allowed to make yourself a priority. You’re allowed to take care of your needs before anyone else’s. You’re allowed to choose what serves your best interest. You’re allowed to be selfish. You’re allowed to worry about yourself, you’re allowed to think of yourself.

You’re allowed to chase after your dreams. You’re allowed to devote yourself to what matters to you whether it’s a career, a hobby or a passion. You’re allowed to move cities or countries to do what you love. You’re allowed to get lost to find yourself. You’re allowed to get things off of your bucket list.

You’re allowed to say no because you care about your wellbeing. You’re allowed to say no to things you don’t want to do. You’re allowed to turn your friends down because you want to spend time alone. You’re allowed to refuse sleeping with someone who you’re not ready to sleep with or simply don’t want to. You’re allowed to stand-up to your boss when they ask you to do something isn’t required of you. You’re allowed not to do something because you just don’t feel like it.

You’re allowed to look after your emotions. You’re allowed to tell people how you really feel even if it might hurt them. You’re allowed to speak about what’s really bothering you. And you’re allowed to talk about the things that matter to you, you’re allowed to tell people what they really mean to you. You’re allowed to be vulnerable. You’re allowed to be authentic. You’re allowed to be real.

You’re allowed to choose the people you want in your life. You’re allowed to cut-off a parent from your life because they don’t love you the way you need them to. You’re allowed to remove family members from your life who take advantage of you, who judge you and are jealous of you. You’re allowed to end friendships that no longer mean anything to you. You’re allowed to draw a line for your friends who were never there for you. You’re allowed to move on from a connection you don’t see going anywhere. You’re allowed to not give a chance to someone who took you for granted, someone who isn’t what you deserve. You’re allowed to leave a relationship because it’s not what you want, because you’re no longer in love. You’re allowed to wait. You’re allowed to go after your fairy-tale. You’re allowed to see what’s out there for you.

You’re allowed to spend your money on yourself. You’re allowed to spoil yourself. You’re allowed to buy that thing you had your eyes on for months. You’re allowed to not lend people money because you need it too. You’re allowed not to spend money on your friends for their special occasion because you can’t afford it.

You’re allowed to be happy. You’re allowed to be who you are, who you want to be, who you can be. You’re allowed to have the life you’ve always wanted, the one you think about all day and dream of at night. You’re allowed to be all the things you are. You’re allowed to be at the places that make you content. You’re allowed to do all the things that make you, you. And you’re allowed to put yourself first, never forget that, my friend.
