Mother Tries To Sell Her Kids On Facebook For $4,000
Mashable reports that a woman named Misty VanHorn, a 22-year-old mother of two in Oklahoma, was arrested this past Saturday for trafficking of minors after repeatedly trying to sell her children on Facebook. VanHorn offered her 10-month-old girl for $1,000 or a package deal of the girl as well as her two-year-old for $4,000.
Another woman, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, was discussing buying the children from VanHorn and thus, there may be federal charges, as Fort Smith is over the state border.
In a Facebook message to the prospective buyer, VanHorn said, “Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000.”
Police believe the woman wanted the $1,000 to bail her boyfriend out of jail. Ironically, she is now being held for $40,000 bail.
The children are now in the care of the state’s department of human services.
