I Think Of You At 3 AM

By

I think of you at 3 a.m.
because I am not with
you.
I think of you at 3 a.m.
because I know were both
wide awake.
I think of you at 3 a.m.
because I can’t sleep through
the night.

I think of you at 3 a.m.
and wonder-
how was your day?
how are you doing?
how are you still awake too?

I think of you at 3 a.m.
when we were
staring at white ceilings
raveled in your blue,
crisp sheets,
plaid comforter,
and lifeless pillows.

I think of you at 3 a.m.
and wish upon the faint stars
that I used to see from your
windowsill.

I think of you at 3 a.m.
and miss the feeling,
the one of you
next to me.
I think of you at 3 a.m.
for it’s the only time I’m able
to remember you.

I think of you at 3 a.m.
hating yet,
secretly loving
every second of it.
