How To Date A Capricorn

So you’re dating a Capricorn (born December 22—January 20) — how prudent of you. Capricorns are very prudent signs. They also tend to be a little bit more despondent than other signs. If fact, Capricorns are like the Eleanor Rigbys of the world. And they’ll read this and think, “Thanks a pantsfull,” but they kind of know what I mean, deep down. So on your date, do your best to cheer up your Capricorn.

The thing about Capricorns though, is as pessimistic as they may be, they’re also likely to be fairly unemotional unless you know them very well. So don’t fear if you’re on a date with a Capricorn and they don’t appear to be having a fabulous time — they’re keeping it all inside, like a frightened mother who won’t let her kids leave the house. Like Nicole Kidman in The Others — that’s what’s going on inside the mind of a Capricorn.

That’s right, optimism doesn’t come easy to a Capricorn. This doesn’t mean they walk around all dour like the Ghost of Christmas Past, but it does mean that if you suggest something for a date, they’ll come up with several reasons why your suggestion won’t work. It might be best to let them decide what to do.

If you really want your Capricorn to open up, offer them a drink. Or several. That will help them open up. True, it helps most of us open up, but Capricorns are especially guarded with their emotions. (One famous drunk Capricorn is Mel Gibson, just FYI.) When it comes to romance, Capricorns keep calm and carry on. They’re not going to have massive public meltdowns — they’ll leave that to the Scorpios (love ya, fellow Scorps). The whole “You complete me thing” does nothing for Capricorns, so don’t try any of touchy-feely that bullshit.

So if you want to end your date with a Capricorn abruptly, do something showy during dinner to call attention to yourselves, and they’ll flee like Cinderella at 11:59 PM.

Really, it’s in part due to the Capricorn’s fierce sense of independence. It’s not that they don’t want a partner and I’m not saying that they can’t give incredible love — they’re just very prone to clamming up and sticking it out on their own until they’re sure about someone. Your Capricorn romance will take some time before they fully develop and let you love them.
