A Pretty Excellent Time-Lapse of North American Cities and Landscapes

May. 6, 2011
Brandon Scott Gorrell is a writer and editor living in Brooklyn, NY.

Dominic Boudreault shot this amazing time-lapse footage of North American cities and landscapes over the course of a year. Locations featured in the video include Montreal, Quebec city, Toronto, Manhattan, and Chicago. Boudreault’s goal with the time-lapse was to “show the duality between city and nature.” Pretty sweet! Does anyone know what is the music he used in this video ? I think its the soundtrack of a movie, but which movie ?

  • Zactly

I think it's Inception? Pretty sure it's Inception. It makes me want to watch Inception.

  • guest

it's from the inception score, can't remember the precise name

I don't get it how is the city like nature in this movie

  • Arressjee

These things are old hat, and I found this dissapointingly boring. I assumed it was going to cover the seasons, not a nights worth of each location. Guy wasted a year.

  • QueenofIndie

I'm really not seeing the nature connection here. Maybe I'm just not evolved enough or something? Art confuses me.

  • Loved this

It's contrasting the amazing beauty one single lonely tree can contain, compared to the millions of human hours that are needed for making these cities: its builings, bridges, roads, pretty lights, whatever… Right? Something of the sort, i dunno…

  • RamonaCC

So those bright flying dots are airplanes, right? And definitely not alien space ships?

It's the twelfth track, “Time”, from the Inception soundtrack.
Realizing what it was brought a huge smile to my face, it fits perfectly.

    Aw, BSG, this is cute.

No, art is just made up after the fact. This guy did a bunch of pretty cool time lapses, then muddied it up by coming up with some meta-philosophical bullshit.

If you can write enough big words people will think anything you do is art.

    You're always so negative.
