Justin Bieber Gets Slow

When you slow down Justin Bieber’s “U Smile” by 800%, you get a song so unrecognizable that some commenters on Gawker purported it to be an entirely different song called “Echoes Across the Astral Wasteland” by a band called Photon Wave Orchestra. That should clue you into what this masterpiece created by Nick Pittsinger actually sounds like: no, not a slow jam––it’s way too slow for that. More like an ambient track you might hear while getting a massage or doing yoga. (Gawker compares it to Animal Collective!)

Pittsinger and Gawker insist that the bizarre but quite beautiful track Pittsinger created, using a free program called Paulstretch, is indeed a new version of “U Smile,” not a Photon Wave Orchestra song. Or an Animal Collective song. Or a Sigur Rós song. Some people find the Bieb’s voice to be the most soothing sound in the world, but for those who don’t, this 35-minute transformation of it might successfully get you through the rest of your Friday. • Why 20-Somethings Need To Start Dressing Better

After spending most of our lives being able to dress however we pleased, we’re now entering a time when we actually have to start considering whether or not an outfit is age-appropriate. When you’re in your mid-twenties though, this can be a surprisingly difficult thing to do.

  • Three Cheers For "Boring" Love

In fact, sometimes we are so eager for that thrill of danger, of uncertainty, of desire, that we’ll search for and create problems where there are none. It’s as though our brains can’t comprehend that something can simply work, and that happiness is not just a wisp of smoke we’re meant to perpetually chase and never attain.

Ladies. Please, stop throwing your panties at your computer screens. I don’t mean to be this sexy; it just happens. Even though I’m not a vegetarian, I have a lot of admiration for their kind. • I Wanted To Be A Poem

The kiss was not well-executed. Our foreheads were interlocked, attempting to preclude the act. She was rubbing my temples, my shoulders, relaxing the malaise out of my muscles, working to my bone marrow. Why did I let her touch me, was I aroused by illogic? No. I wanted to be transcendent, cerebral. I wanted to be a poem.
