diaryland missing is a sad thing
honestly had to go to 'deadjournal.com' based on its exclusion (i think?) from the first 'visible page' of google results, feel 'somewhat enamoured' toward its join-link, 'shaddap and gimme a goddamned deadjournal'

I must admit, I see your point regarding LiveJournal, WordPress, Blogger and Xanga. My acquaintance with DeadJournal has been passing and depressing to merely look at; TypePad believes that somehow they can squeeze money out of blogging; I hadn't heard anyone mention Open Diary since 2004 or so.

As WheatBlog and Moveable Type require that you host your own (as do a lot of WordPress installs), I have no experience with them, because if I wanted to be hacked at 4 in the morning and spend eight hours fixing it, I'd've become a systems administrator instead of a flâneuse.

Tumblr seems the most authentic. Maybe number of vowels in the name is inversely proportional to the quality of a blogging platform.
